By Anna Joy

March 13, 2017

Looking for a simple yet super-fun craft for Easter? You just found it – the Easter finger puzzle!

Help your kids learn the story of Jesus' resurrection with this interactive Easter Finger Puzzle - complete with Bible verses and questions!

These adorable Easter Finger Puzzles are perfect to make with your own kids at home or in a classroom. They would also be great to hand out to kids at a church sunrise breakfast on Easter morning or slipped into an Easter basket to remind your kids of the true meaning of Easter. These printables can be printed in full color or black and white (allowing kids to color their own.)

These finger puzzles feature words to spell on the outside, numbered pictures on the next layer, Bible-related questions about Easter to answer, and Bible verses about Jesus’ resurrection on the inside. The puzzles are available in CSB, ESV, KJV, NASB, NIV, and NKJV Bible versions.

The outside squares feature Easter words or phrases to spell while opening and closing the finger puzzle in different directions.

The second layer of triangles features adorable pictures and numbers to choose from. Children can then open and close the finger puzzle in different directions counting up to the number chosen.

Finally, children can choose a number from 1 to 4, open the flap, and answer the corresponding question or read the verse. The questions and verses are all about Jesus’ death and resurrection – reminding kids of the true meaning of Easter.

To play, have your child insert their thumb and index finger from each hand into the flaps in the back. Open and close the finger puzzle in different directions as you spell one of the words from the outer layer. Then, pick a picture from the inside. Open and close the finger puzzle the number of times indicated on the picture you chose. Choose one more image. Open that flap and choose a number from one to four. Read the verse or question from the chosen number.

  1. About how long does it take to receive the download for the finger puzzle? I am ready and waiting. Thanks!

    1. I am sure I don't know why it says free, but it is only $2.50 and I got a 20% off coupon on the sight. It is a bargain. Very nicely done and I love that I can choose the Bible version I want as well.

  2. would love to have your finger puzzle but can't find instructions. Tried to print but only received puzzle without directions.

  3. Love these! Thank you for creating and making them available and easily accessible.
I had downloaded all of the templates but didn’t see instructions on how to use the completed puzzles but when I returned to this page, I found them here. Would it be possible to put them on the same page as the folding instructions? Would like to send the puzzles home for the children to make them it would be very helpful. We won’t have enough time to make them all in Sunday School. Thank you again, Anna!

    God bless you!

  4. I cannot figure out how to get the side with words to fold correctly to show. Even my 13 year old said something wasn't right. Don't know if I'm missing a page or what

  5. This is a great idea to add into the kids Easter eggs. I love it! Thank you for offering different Bible versions.

    1. I would love to translate these into Spanish, but I don’t have the ability to do that yet. One day, Lord willing! May God bless you as you minister to these precious children who speak Spanish.

  6. I am saddened that you chose to put a dog under He Is Risen …. Also why did you use the instructions with the angels and jesus etc but the picture for that template is nowhere to be found.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Angela! I do try to avoid using pictures of Jesus Christ Himself on my crafts. I don’t want to influence how kids (and we ourselves) view Jesus Christ. The instructions for the finger puzzle come from the Christmas finger puzzle – but the puzzles fold in exactly the same way. The printable instructions actually take me longer to create than the actual craft itself, LOL. May God bless you! – Anna Joy

  7. This is so awesome!!!!!! And THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH for making different scripture choices. So many things I pass by bc they are not KJV, and I understand why some people don't like it but for our family and church it is the only one we use. So this limits things b/c very few people us it any more , so thank you again.

  8. Thank you for sharing this! I was happy to see you gave options to choose which Bible to use. Wonderful! We'll be sharing this with our twenty grandchildren this Easter! Happy Easter!

  9. Ms. ANNA,

Thank you so much for Easter ideas, I love using them in Sunday school and for our Elderlies in Church.
I pray for God's Blessings on your life, I pray new wisdom, knowledge, and discernment over you. I also pray for new creative ideas that will be shared with the world. In Jesus name, Amen!

    Love in Christ
    Deanne

  10. Thanks for your heart for the kids! I love your passion! I was wondering if you have the finger puzzle in Spanish? Blessings!

  11. Thank you for the instructions this time.

The instructions are different to what I thought. It seems you are not meant to ask the question and then

    find the matching answer.

    1. That is correct, Ruth. I would love to have the questions and answers match, but that is not how the game was originally played. I need to figure out a creative solution to that. 🙂

  12. I love your craft! It is fantastic.
I would love to make a Dutch version of this…
    Inspired on tour fingerpuzzle

  13. I am delighted to find this puzzle. I am a volunteer at a women's prison, but we have not been able to visit our ladies and do Bible studies with them in person for a year due to covid19.
The other volunteers and I send them letters each month. However, I run out of chatty things to say, so I have begun including Bible lessons and an activity sheet. I know that the ladies will your thoroughly enjoy finger activity because it is so cute and they will share it with others and spread some much needed joy and love.

    1. Oh, wow, what a wonderful ministry – but so hard during this last year, too. Thank you so much for doing this, Tina. May God bless you and the beautiful women you are ministering to. May God use His Word to bring these women into a personal relationship with Himself, where they can find love and healing and hope.

  14. Love this!! I’m using it for my children’s choir while we are on stay-at-home – printed off enough copies and mailing them to each family – hope to do a Zoom meeting when they get their finger puzzles assembled.

  15. With us not being able to gather, we are making “Church in a box” for Holy week.
We will deliver boxes to all of our families with Holy week activities, sermon notes, palms, candles (Thursday) communion “to go kits” etc. Then when they tune in on fb live they will have what they need to participate. And some fun things for he week.

  16. I received your answer to my question, but I did not receive the link to download the finger puzzle. I checked my spam folder dating all the way back to the day I pressed the link. Can you please send me the link to the finger puzzle? Thank you.

    1. You should get the link within minutes, although sometimes the email goes into a spam folder. Please let me know if you didn’t get it, and I will make sure that you do. May God bless you! – Anna Joy

  17. Thank you so much for the adorable Nativity “Cootie” catcher. I am taking it to my religious ed class on Monday. I need instructions on how to fold it! Do you have them?? Thank you!
    Renee

  18. I made a bunch of these for Easter and we give them to the kids after they found the hidden eggs. They all loved playing with them. Some even more than eating the candy. LOL thank you for sharing.

  21. Anna,

We are having an Egg Hunt for the young kids at our church & community. I think it would be great for us to print some of these to include in the treat bags for the kids to take home or else to help the kids cut out and fold and show them how to use them with each other while the eggs are being hid. Thank you so much for the things you share!

    Frankie

  22. My third graders love the finger puzzles. It is a wonderful way to learn about Jesus! They play with their finger puzzles out at recess and in our classroom. We discuss the content first and then color them.

  24. We meet with kids at an apartment complex and have a monthly Kids Club. We do a bible story, a craft, some games and a snack. Some of them have never heard of Jesus. This will be great. Thanks so much.

  25. Our grandchildren live in another state, so we try to make big deal of Easter by sending them gospel related items that they can explain to each other and to their friends. We also send treats.

  26. Thank you for your wonderful contributions to my ever-expanding resources on Christian ministry for children! My students enjoy your graphics, finding them appealing, informative and easy to colour. God bless, Vicki from Australia.

  27. I will be using them for my scripture classes especially a good theme for Easter season. I will be a good idea for the kids as a reminder of the meaning of lent. Classes are year 3 and 4. It is a perfect crafts idea for these group.

    Thanks and regards.

    Gloria Rivas

  32. We are supposed to have an egg hunt at my church. However, it is supposed to rain and we might have it indoors. Your finger puzzle will be nice to print out, put on a table with some crayons for the kids who are done the hunt or looking for something to do.
    thank you :)!

    1. I love that idea! Weather is supposed to be bad here, too – upper 20’s, low 30’s. We will probably be doing everything inside, as well. I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

  33. Hello Anna. This is 66 year old Shirley Anne from St Martin’s Anglican Church, Sharjah. Your Easter finger puzzle is a HIT with our church children… a truly inspired idea, turning the hugely popular finger origami game into a fun Christian teaching tool! 39. This is one of the coolest ideas I have seen on the internet. Thank you so much! I used this in my class and the kids absolutely loved it!

  40. I have just stumbled upon your website while searching for Easter crafts on Pinterest for my kids ministry. Your website looks amazing. I am looking forward to exploring all that you offer. Thank you for sharing your gifts with others, just imagine how many kids lives you have impacted.

  41. Thank you so much for this resource. Two other ladies and I volunteer at a local school in South Africa, where we help disadvantaged children with their reading. This will be a wonderful gift to share with the children this Easter. Something fun, & yet still teaching God’s truth. Thank you.

  42. Dear Anna Joy,
Thank you so much for sharing your resources.
I received your email with three worksheets for Easter but was unable to access them as it took me back to the website and asked me to send you an email. Can you try re-sending them please. I hope you and your family enjoy the blessings of Easter.

    1. Barbara, I went back and checked, and I can’t deliver an email to the email address that you provided – through my automated email provider or my personal email. Neither will recognize your email as a valid email address. Please don’t post your email address here, but can you try signing up with a different email address? I don’t know what else to suggest. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

    1. Sure, Dayna. The instructions for folding are included as a PDF on the download page. (I did it that way so I could print the folding instructions and take them with me when I taught – otherwise I would get in front of the class and forget how to fold them. Lol.) When you sign up to get the printables, a link will be sent to your inbox for a page that includes the printables and the instructions. I hope that helps!

  43. Thank you for the Easter Puzzle it is a great idea! Are there printable instructions for folding and if so where are those posted? Most third graders will know but would like instructions just in case, and for the adults trying to assist with this craft. Thank you!

  44. Hi Anna,

I am from Kenya and I wish to thank you for sharing this idea. Will use it with the children as we prepare for Easter. Its a good way to teach the Easter story. If possible include a step by step way of folding the finger puzzle.

    1. Sure, Nancy, the folding instructions are included on the download page after you sign up. I am so happy that you are able to use these in Kenya. May God bless you as you work with these precious children.

  45. Thanks so much for sharing! The kids at our Aftercare program will love coloring and making these. I was just a little confused with the numbers on the questions and answers, or how you were suppose to use it with the game.

    1. Sure, Kim, here’s the instructions: To play, have your child insert their thumb and index finger from each hand into the flaps in the back. Open and close the finger puzzle in different directions as you spell one of the words from the outer layer. Then, pick a picture from the inside. Read the verse or question from the chosen number. I hope that helps. May God bless you!

    Thank you for providing this.

  47. We have few if any children at my husband’s church so I try to have something available for them if they are there. Most of our members are older adults. These look like a very interesting project to have available for them. I’m sure they will enjoy them. Thanks.

  48. We are giving away bags of Easter goodies including a Jesus story book in the streets of Derby. Your finger puzzle will be a great addition. Thank you

  49. This is the best idea I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you. I’ve been a teacher for 30 years and this is so creative and perfect and I need to applaud you and say thank you. My second grade students in Faith Formation will love it.

  50. Hi Anna Joy!

Thank you so much for these printables to help kids participate in Worship Services. I was looking for the Christmas Finger Puzzle. Could you help me with that? Thanks and God Bless!

    1. I don’t have anything in French at this point, Glenda. I would love to be able to translate these materials some day, but don’t have the resources to do that at this time. Thanks for asking!

  51. Thank you for the Easter finger puzzle, also known by other names. I’ll use this at Sunday School and possibly will share it with others who teach the Christian faith in state schools here. Much appreciated.

  53. Thank you so much…..I am always looking for an inexpensive craft for our missionary friends in Texas. Happy to see a KJV for them……would have loved a Spanish one too as they have a much larger following across the border in Rio Bravo Mexico.

    1. Judy, I would LOVE to translate these materials into Spanish and Portuguese (my second language). Someday, Lord willing! Thank you for supporting your missionary friends. I grew up in Brazil, an MK, so I have a special place in my heart for missions. May God bless you!

  54. Thank you, so very much for the Easter cooties printout. It’s difficult to do something different each year, teaching my Sunday schoolers. They will love these.

  55. I love it! Excellent resource for my Sunday School class . Thank you so much for sharing. The children loved it! God Bless!

    1. Mayra, if you click on the brown links at the bottom of the post which say “Easter Finger Puzzle Black and White KJV”, etc., you will open up a PDF file. From there, you should see a little printer icon (mine is in the top right hand corner, although this may change based on the computer or device you are using). I hope this helps.

  56. This was such a find. I remember these from my youth and this is just what I needed for my kids to keep them interested in my lesson. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the time you put into this for those of us that teach children.

  57. This is so very generous – thank you! Ideal for our Sunday school class and the girls especially is going to love it. I’m going to be a popular teacher 🙂

    1. Liz, click on the dark brown, large print below the last picture that says “Easter Finger Puzzle Black and White KJV” etc. That will open a PDF that you can print.

  58. Thank you! What a brilliant idea!!
I found this on Pintrest somehow.
I’m printing them for our small church for the kids to do during the Easter sermon.
I love how you made KJV, ESV, and NIV. That was thoughtful of you.
Resurrection blessings to you and your family.

  59. Thank you for the great resource. I’ll be using this for a small group activity for 3rd/4th graders. I’ll look forward to using your site in the future! Have a wonderful Easter Celebration!

  60. This is perfect! Thank you so much. I’d like to use this in church on Sunday. Is this something that could also be handed out at an Easter Egg Hunt outreach? Thank you for creating it.

  61. I love this! I’m always looking for a new way to tell my daughter the Easter story. She will have so much fun coloring this and folding it. I love that we can play it like a game too. Thanks!!

  62. This is a great way to share with our Sunday school kids this Easter Sunday. Thank you for the great craft.

  63. I really love this! I know my grandkids will love doing these while we’re there for Easter. I had a little problem when printing the directions for folding. It showed up as the directions for the Christmas one. I don’t mean to sound foolish, but will those directions work as well?

    1. Cindy, the finger puzzle will fold in exactly the same way as the Christmas one. I was being lazy and didn’t want to go in and re-do the images on the directions. 🙂

  64. Thank you very much for providing a great resource and activity for kids and for making it so easy! The finger activity has a REAL message, LOVE THAT!

  65. What a great craft! Was looking for something to do with my daughter’s class tomorrow and was thrilled to find this. THANK YOU FOR SHARING! Blessings, and have a wonderful celebration of our Savior’s resurrection!

  66. Hello Anna,
I run an after school program for low income kids and have to provide most of my own funding. I found your resources and I love them! Thank you so much for providing free, quality materials for those of us wanting to share God’s love with children! I am certain “my kids” will be blessed by them!

    1. Thank you so much for your ministry to these kids, Susan. May God bless you and give you wisdom and strength as you share God’s love with them. I am humbled that you would be able to use these resources with them. May God be with you!

  67. Hopefully I can find an egg to fit the folded puzzle in for my 2 and 4 year old! Then I printed a second one for my nieces and nephews. This year our eggs will contain less candy and more pieces telling the real Easter story. So excited to see how they will have fun learning the real reason we celebrate! Looking forward to checking back at Christmas for some Christ-centered ideas!

  68. Hi Anna!
Found your site through Pinterest, and I really appreciate having something that clearly talks about the Biblical perspective of Easter. I am the homeroom parent for my son’s 2nd grade classroom in a Christian school, but the Easter party is left up to parents. Because I am a pastor as well (but with adults, not kids) I have gone searching every year for what to do with 20 kids but not a lot of money for supplies. This is perfect! Can’t wait to do it this week.
Thank you for taking the time to offer this up and for free as well.
You are a blessing to many!
    Take care,
    Robin

  69. I am so excited to use this with my class of elementary-aged girls! I never really knew how to do the cootie catcher back in school 🙂 I think I understand how to play it, though. I’m thinking about modifying the game so that the child always has to choose 1 or 2 before lifting the flap, and have 1 and 2 always be the questions. Unless there’s a better way to play? Thank you so much for making it!

    1. That would be a great way to play it Tori. Plus, the verses on the inner flaps have the answers to the questions 1 & 2, so if someone is not sure of the answer, they can read the verse. I don’t think there is a “wrong” way to play these. May God bless you!

  70. Thanks so much for the finger puzzle and Easter booklet! Our small Sunday School really appreciates sites like yours! So great for last minute planning!! Happy Easter!

  71. Thanks for the wonderful Easter finger puppet idea. I plan to hand these out to our Caraway Street kids, age 4 – Grade 4 on Palm Sunday.

  72. fABULOUS!!! Thank you so much for the wonderful Easter activities! This is such a blessing to our small chapel. We are extremely grateful for your giving hearts!

  73. I’ve been looking for the craft I will do at our church’s Easter Egg Hunt. This finger puzzle looks like a good craft.

  74. In my year of teaching mixed age beginning readers in Sunday school I’ve learned that if it’s a game and we play it often the retention is great so I’m always looking for new ‘games’ or tools. I took this to class on Sunday and in playing it asked what other topics could it be used for and out of the mouth of babes came “Ten Commandments”. So while ther are only 8 triangles we mocked on up using two interior squares. The other suggestion was the 12 disciples-4 too many vs spaces but I’m going to try using the four interior squares.

Since you asked for comments thought I’d share ideas my kids mentioned.

    1. Kathy, the folding directions are in a PDF Download. If you scroll down to the last finger puzzle picture, you will see some large brown links – Easter Finger Puzzle Black and White, Easter Finger Puzzle Full Color, and Finger Puzzle Folding Directions. Click on “Finger Puzzle Folding Directions” to download and print the directions (if desired). I had to do it this way because, no matter how many times I fold something by myself at home, as soon as I stand up in front of my class, I completely forget how to fold it. I need the printed instructions right in front of me. Thankfully, one of my 4rth grade boys is great at origami, so I usually defer to him. Lol.

  75. I will be using these in a couple of weeks for ages 4 to 12. I will let you know the overall response. I will try them out on my kiddos first and see their response. My 7 year old boy loves to make these! Thanks for sharing.

  76. Thank you very much for your work! I really liked your materials. May God bless you and give you wisdom! I live in Moldova, but we have one God and one goal – that we grow in the knowledge of Him and that our children will know and serve Him.

  77. Hey! I love this idea!! I think my kids would love it too! Do you have this available in something besides the King James version? KJV is harder for my kids to understand, so just thought I’d check! Thanks!!

  78. Thank you so much for sharing this! I am planning to use it with my 3rd grade Sunday School class, and I know they will love it!

  79. Wonderful idea! Will be making it in my Sunday skool class…will write the verses in urdu because that is the language all children understand in my class!thank you for sharing it!

  80. I am hoping to use this with our special needs ministry at our church during the Easter season. Thanks for making the pattern available with a lot of great info from God’s Word.

  81. The Finger Puzzle is fantastic! Do you have the verses in a translation besides the King James Translation? Thanks!

  82. This is so cute and such a great ideal! I love that it’s KJV. That’s all my church uses and it’s hard to find lessons and activities with the KJV verses.
Thank you so much, God bless you!
