Whether you are teaching a Sunday School class, looking for a simple craft for Awana, or helping your child memorize a verse at home, this simple Bible verse craft is easy and fun to make.
Materials:
- Cardstock in various colors, cut into strips. (My strips were 4.25 inches by 1.25 inches.)
- Markers, pens, or pencils
- Clear Tape
- A Verse to Copy
Directions:
Supply each child with the cardstock strips. You will want at least 7 strips per child. If you want the project to take longer, you could have the kids cut their own strips. (For Sunday School, I cut mine ahead of time with a paper cutter and had them available on the table so the kids could choose their own colors and patterns.)
Have the children write the verse on the strips, a few words or phrase per strip. If someone makes a mistake, it is easy to swap in a new paper strip.
Have the kids line up the strips in the proper order, being careful to leave a slight space between each strip. Remind the kids not to overlap the strips or the verse will not fold properly. Then, they can stick a piece of tape to each side of two strips, repeating until all of the strips have been taped together.
The kids can then fold the verse, accordion style.
If the kids tape on the side that they wrote on, they can then draw a picture or write another verse on the back of the “accordion”, if desired. Just make sure that whatever side they tape has already been written on, as they won’t be able to write on top of the tape.
That’s it! This craft was super easy for me to get ready, and I was surprised how much my 3rd and 4rth graders seemed to enjoy this simple Bible verse craft.
Will you be making this craft? I would love to hear your thoughts. Scroll down to comment.

I love this idea. I was looking for another way to get the ladies bible study to do a useful craft on Lockdown and found this while prepping my SS lesson. I have to send the craft through the post so this is ideal. Will use it for the kids in class too. Thanks for posting! I know it will be a blessing. ?

I love it. If I can get everything together, I want to help our SS class make these for learning the books of the OT.
That would be perfect for this project! Thank you for sharing that idea. I do like that all this craft requires is paper, scissors, tape, and markers or pencils or crayons. (I have been guilty of pulling this together on a Saturday night. Ahem.)
